Shane McEntee was appointed Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine with special responsibility for Food Safety, Forestry and Horticulture on 10th March 2011.
Shane is a native of Nobber Co. Meath and was first elected to Dáil Éireann in the Meath bye-election in 2005.
Shane was re-elected to Dáil Eireann in May 2007 and was appointed Deputy Spokesperson on Transport with special responsibility for Road Safety followed by Deputy spokesperson on Agriculture, Fisheries and Food with special responsibility for Food and Fisheries.
Other activities
Before being elected as a Public Representative, Shane was a farmer and agricultural sales representative. He is involved in numerous voluntary organisations, in particular the GAA.
Shane lives in Castletown, County Meath with his wife and three children.
